Notice of Recommendation of the 8th Annual World Collegiate WEICHI Championship
Dear:
Founded in 2014 with the aim of providing a stage for college players from all over the world to improve their skills and friendships, the World Collegiate WEICHI Championship has been warmly welcomed by college players.
In the first seven competitions that have been held, the organizing committee has received your strong support, and we would like to express our deep gratitude. The eighth Championship is now in the works, and we look forward to receiving your continued help.
The basic information of this competition is as follows:

The 8th Annual World Collegiate WEICHI Championship
- 1. Organizers: International University WEICHI Federation(IUWF), Shanghai Ing Chang-Ki Weichi Educational Foundation
- Support: Japan Go Association , Japan Pair Go Association
- Special collaborator: Institute of Science Tokyo
- Cooperation: The All-Japan Students GO Association
- 2. Date: December 15 - December 21, 2024
- 3. Location: Institute of Science Tokyo, Japan
- 4. Participates: 16 college students are invited to participate in the championship.
- 5. Regulations:
- a: Ing rule for scoring.
- b: Players must be amateur college students.
- c: Player from China, Japan and South Korea are not allowed to atttend if he/she has a professional rank.
- 6. Fees: The organizer will cover the round-trip international air tickets (non-stop round trip between the designated cities), accommodation and expenses during the championship, such as meals, tour, competitions, etc.
- 7. Rankings and Awards: Trophies are awarded to the champion and runners-up, and medals are awarded to 3 to 6 winners. All players will receive a certificate of participation and a gift.
- 8. Recommended units for contestants can have one team leader accompanying them, and the team leader will be responsible for their own transportation expenses. The organizing committee will arrange free accommodation, meals, tourism, and other events for the competition.
- 9. The jury of appeal and referee will be assigned by International University WEICHI Federation.
- 10. Supplements will be provided if needed.
- 11.The right of these regulations belongs to International University WEICHI Federation.
Rules
- 1. Five-round point system will be used and the top two players will advance to the final.
- 2. The champion and runner-up will be determined after one game in the final. The rest of the rankings will be determined according to the order of scores.
- 3. Before the game, both sides guess on the spot. The winner can choose Black or white. Black sticks 8 points. Ing rule is used for scoring.
- 4. Game time: The basic time of each side is 1 hour, and the time can be delayed once (2 points penalties for 10-minute delay). The 20-minute delay will be regarded as giving up the game.
- 5. Determination of the order of this championship: the order will be determined according to the "points". If the points are the same, they will be compared in turn by "the sum of opponent points" → "win or lose each other" → "best opponent points". If it still can't be determined, then the lottery will be used.
