Gospiel/ESGC/2025
Invitation ESGC 2025
Dear students in Europe,
the European Students Go Championship 2025 will be held at the University of Luxembourg.
The Championship of the European Go Federation is organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Go Association and Badischer Go-Verein Karlsruhe/Germany.
The best three participants (including the best female) authorized to start at the OZA tournament will be invited to Japan in 2026 (all costs including flight will be covered by OZA) and the best will be the European Students Go Champion.[1]
The Championship will be combined with an open tournament to which we particularly invite students in Europe who are not qualified for the official Championship.
Rules
The tournament consists of five rounds McMahon with Fischer timing, 45 minutes main and 20 seconds per move, komi 6,5 points. Japanese/EGF rules
Eligible for the Championship are all amateur players that are university student and born in 1996 or later with a citizenship of an EGF member-country. Players starting to study in fall 2025 are also eligible but have to show an appropriate university document. There are further restrictions for the European seats in Japan, see footnotes.[1]
Anyone who can play Go on the 19x19 board can take part in the Open, we start at 25 Kyu.
